GATTAquant Team

Dr. Jürgen Schmied, Chief Executive Officer,

schmiedAfter his diploma in physics in September 2010 Jürgen Schmied worked as PhD student in the “NanoBioSciences” Lab at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. There he focused on the further development of fluorescently labeled DNA origami structures to use them as nanoscopic rulers in super-resolution microscopy. Since September 2014 he is chief executive officer of the GATTAquant GmbH.

Dr. Carsten Forthmann, Software Development,

forthmannDuring his diploma thesis at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität of Munich (degree in December 2008), Carsten Forthmann developed and programmed a substantial software package for data analysis in super-resolution microscopy. After his PhD in the field of super-resolution imaging in May 2013 Carsten Forthmann changed to the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and worked there until June 2014 as a scientist in the department of “Bild und Wellenoptik“. Since July 2014 he is responsible for the sector of software development.

Dr. Max Scheible, Research & Development,

scheibleAfter his diploma in physics in December 2010 Max Scheible worked as PhD student at the chair of Systems Biophysics at the Physics-Department of the Technische Universität München. There he focused on DNA and RNA based molecular structures (especially on DNA origami structures) as well as on the dynamical aspects of DNA-based systems. Since September 2014 Max Scheible is responsible for the sector of research and development at the GATTAquant GmbH.

Prof. Dr. Philip Tinnefeld, Mentoring,

tinnefeldPhilip Tinnefeld obtained his PhD in January 2002 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität of Heidelberg in the field of single molecule spectroscopy. After working as a postdoc in Los Angeles and Leuven, he did his habilitation at the University of Bielefeld. Afterwards he worked as associate professor in the department for applied physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität of Munich until September 2010 and is now leading the NanoBioSciences Lab at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Philip Tinnefeld is one of the world’s leading experts in DNA origami technology and especially in its application to the field of photophysics and single molecule spectroscopy and microscopy. Since July 2014 he is consulting and mentoring the GATTAquant team.
